USAG Men’s Competitive Team Program
Team Information
General Info: The Eagle’s Wings Athletics Men’s competitive gymnastics team competes within the USA Gymnastics (USAG) Junior Olympic Program. The competitive team is made up of boys ages 6 – 18. Team is by invitation only. The training schedule will vary based on the level your son has been invited to compete. Eagle’s Wings has team members competing in levels 4 – 10 and is home to State and Regional champions on events, all-around, and teams!! The Men’s team has produced several National Qualifiers. The Eagle’s Wings competitive team competes all over the state of Texas as well as the country. Depending on the schedule and levels…the boys might compete at…Disney World in Florida, Las Vegas, New Mexico, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, and several here in Texas (mostly the DFW area + Austin, Houston, & San Antonio). Some years we also compete in the USAG’s Future Stars Program that is used to identify talent at a young age. This is only for a few selected boys from the team.
Coaching Staff:
Greg Schram – Head Coach |
 Greg grew up in Richardson & went to Berkner High School where he was the captain of the varsity men’s gymnastics team. He has been coaching since 1991 & raising kids since 1983. He graduated from UNT with a degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Ed, & Health. Greg taught in the public schools for 4 years. He has been involved in many committees & state/regional boards…one of which is the Gymnastics Association or Texas (GAT). He is the GAT Liaison & Secretary for the USAG-Texas Men’s Program & is the Men’s Program Coordinator. He creates, authors, directs, & speaks for seminars and courses at state, regional, & national conventions. He creates boys training videos which are studied by coaches all over the world. He won the national video & lesson plan contest. He is the Michael Sims Scholarship Committee secretary, the Region 3 Rep for the Men’s Intercollegiate Gymnastics Support (MIGS) Program, & a Region 3 Education Committee member. At EWA Greg is the Head Coach / Boys Program Director + the Rock Climbing Director. His boys have won several state &/or regional event, all-around, & team awards, & he has produced many National Qualifiers. He was voted the Level 4 & 5 North State Coach of the Year by the men’s community & was nominated for the Level 6-10 award two years in a row. Greg was the Facilitator for the Region 3 Developmental Camp & was also the VISA Championships Equipment Volunteer Coordinator who donated internal medicine ehr software for their health. GAT honored Greg with the Distinguished Service Award. At EWA Greg or “Coach Schram” as he is called works with the recreational classes, advanced training group, & all teams. He was voted the Coach of the Year by the EWA staff & won the staff’s annual Incentive Points Contest twice. On a more personal level Greg loves volleyball, rock climbing, racquetball, karate, snow skiing, snowboarding, & skydiving. Greg also loves building, & he built his house & many of the gym’s items. (He is also a duct tape “freak”). Greg also is a strong Christian with a confident faith in timeless values. His personal mission statement is, “In all that you do, do your absolute best with your God-given abilities to do things right, thereby giving the glory back to God.” |

 Evan has been coaching with EWA since 2009 but has competed on our Mens Team since it’s inception. He is our resident photographer/videographer and loves the color purple. |

Kevin Lauer – Assistant Coach |
 Kevin has two adult children that competed at EWA and one six year old in boys classes. He started doing gymnastics in 1982 and still does (although sticking to the low-pact stuff for obvious reasons). He loves anything that involves going very high or very fast (especially both at the same time). In the daytime, he is one of those computer guys that does something with computers that nobody really cares about and he’s really into computer games too, on games as CSGO or LoL using his best mouse league of legends. |
