T&T at Winter Classic

The USA Gymnastics Trampoline and Tumbling Winter Classic took place this weekend at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. The field included athletes from the United States, Argentina, Canada, Bulgaria, Mexico, Poland, and Puerto Rico. This year’s Winter Classic was held in conjunction with the Gasparilla Classic, which featured more than 2,700 athletes competing in artistic gymnastics.

Isaac Rowley, Sydney Wendt, and Hannah Green represented EWA at this competition. They had their preliminary competition on Friday morning, during which they all landed their passes and posted scores good enough to qualify them to the final that afternoon. In the final, Isaac, Sydney, and Hannah did not disappoint!! They handled the pressure of the competition like champs and showed everyone who EWA is!!

Hannah went into finals in 6th place. She competed two new passes in the final and moved up to 3rd place!!! Sydney proved that she is a very strong consistent athlete, that consistency landed her in 3rd place for level 10, 15 & 16 year old tumbling!! Isaac’s incredibly high optional routines landed him in 2nd place on Trampoline for 13-14 level 10 boys. He also used his power and ability to land his double mini passes and ultimately earn himself the bronze medal!

Coach Amy said this about the competition “This competition was unbelievable! Sydney, Isaac, and Hannah landed all of their passes, which means this was a perfect meet for the EWA T&T athletes!! I could not be more proud of them, this was their first big USA Elite meet and they definitely showed everyone that they mean business. I can’t wait to watch them in their next Elite meet!”
